When is documentation too much?

Detail is good. Every project, investigation, and audit requires documentation. But where is the point between enough documentation and too much? Unfortunately, there is no formula, no rubric to follow. Compliance professionals need to determine the documentation to be included and maintained and that which can be discarded on an individual-project basis.
