Why employees speak up

Organizations that want to improve speak-up cultures focus a great deal on why employees don’t speak up. However, understanding why many employees do raise issues is an equally important source of guidance. This column draws on the more than 1,000 focus groups I have conducted in over 40 countries to help you strengthen your organization’s speak-up culture. The main reasons employees raise issues are summarized below.
