US president issues executive order addressing rare earth supply chain

On Sept. 30, United States President Donald Trump issued an executive order, “Executive Order on Addressing the Threat to the Domestic Supply Chain from Reliance on Critical Minerals from Foreign Adversaries,”[1] that declares that the threat posed by the U.S.’s reliance on countries such as China for the majority of critical mineral and rare earth imports is a national emergency.
