Preface

The compliance and ethics profession is going through a period of disruption as resources are stretched thinner than ever while expectations for our programs are higher than ever. Advancements in technology, including but not limited to the use of artificial intelligence, present opportunities as well as new risks for compliance professionals. The foundational elements of what comprises a compliance and ethics program change very little from year to year. But much of what impacts the daily functioning of a program and makes it an effective program—based on emerging practices and trends, guidance from regulators, actions from the enforcement community, and other forces—changes much more rapidly.
