The Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Diego, granted preliminary approval on April 1 of a proposed $1 million settlement agreement to resolve data breach class-action suits alleging that San Diego Family Care, a dental and medical provider, failed to secure the protected health information (PHI) and personal identifying information (PII) of over 125,500 individuals.[1] Under the settlement agreement, the defendant will pay more than $1 million to cover payments to class members, with up to $100 in cash payment per class member.[2]
