OIG Example of Inconsistency in Reviews of Extrapolation

In a new report,[1] the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) said Medicare administrative contractors (MACs) and qualified independent contractors weren’t always consistent in the way they evaluated the extrapolation of overpayments during appeals of claim denials. The most significant inconsistency was in the use of a kind of simulation testing, OIG said.
