◆ In both 2024 proposed rules for the inpatient psychiatric facility (IPF) prospective payment system[1] and inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) prospective payment system,[2] CMS is proposing to allow hospitals to add a new IRF unit and a new IPF unit “at any time during the cost reporting period.” It would give them greater flexibility.
