Want to find out about the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act? Money laundering? Privacy compliance? There’s plenty available throughout the compliance world—books, articles, blog posts, etc. Environmental compliance? Not so much. There has been much said about the Department of Justice (DOJ) guidance on compliance programs from the Criminal Division, but no one mentions which part of DOJ was first to issue such compliance guidance. (It was DOJ’s Environmental and Natural Resources Division in July 1991;[1] the Environmental Protection Agency also issued guidance.)
