Bringing value to ESG through compliance

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG), in its essence contains components of ethics and trust-building for its stakeholders through its ESG strategy, reporting, and activities. Compliance professionals have great opportunities to bring value to their companies and related stakeholders by integrating their ESG and compliance practices within the business.

A compliance professional can lead their company’s ESG efforts, which can bring great synergies enterprise-wide, as an individual with a holistic view of the company and a gauge on the pulse of an organization. Additionally, such individuals can be trusted to bring a certain level of integrity, assurance, and thoroughness to their work. Also, great compliance and/or ESG professionals add overall value to their businesses through identifying opportunities to increase brand awareness and reduce costs, minimizing regulatory and legal interventions, and identifying opportunities to capitalize on upcoming regulatory changes.
