Months ago, a jury unanimously awarded $80 million to a truck driver who fell asleep and crashed after being forced to alter his logbook and drive without the required amount of rest.[1] The truck driver, Lauro Lozano, was home adhering to the required 34-hour break after delivering a load.[2] He received a call from his boss to take another load. Lozano’s response: “I cannot safely or legally take the load.” His boss told him to alter his logbook to include a full 34-hour break.
