Inmediata Health Group, a Puerto Rico-based medical and dental clearinghouse, agreed to a $1.13 settlement in order to resolve a data breach class-action suit that alleged that Inmediata failed to secure the protected health information (PHI) and personal identifying information (PII) of 1.6 million patients.[1]
Under the settlement agreement, the defendants will pay $1.13 million to cover payment to class members for documented out-of-pocket losses and up to $15 per hour for up to three hours for time spent addressing issues plausibly traceable to the alleged data breach, the cost of credit monitoring services and identity theft insurance for class members, and settlement administration and attorneys’ fees.
