Tools: Scoring the Effectiveness of the Compliance Program

Here’s a snapshot of tools that can be used to score the effectiveness of a compliance program and report on progress to the board, said Darrell Contreras, chief compliance officer of Millennium Health.[1] The top box is an example from a spreadsheet Contreras uses to score the company’s performance on the metrics from the HHS Office of Inspector General’s 2017 Measuring Compliance Program Effectiveness: A Resource Guide.[2] The bottom box is a summary of the performance on all the applicable metrics, which he presents to the board of directors.
