Russian tanker completes Northern Sea Route

The Christophe de Margerie, an icebreaking liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier owned and operated by Russia’s PAO Sovcomflot, completed the transit from the Port of Sabetta to Cape Dezhnev in 12 days.[1] The transit is a step forward for a joint venture between Sovcomflot and China COSCO Holdings Company Ltd. to create a fleet of ice-breaking LNG tankers to transport natural gas along the northern coast of central Siberia to destinations in Northern Europe, Japan, South Korea and China.[2]
