CMS on Jan. 11 rescinded an MLN Matters article on the removal of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) from the Medicare inpatient-only (IPO) list and application of the two-midnight rule (SE19002). The announcement in another MLN Matters (SE19002 rescinded) said CMS “is revising this article and will re-issue it in the near future.” Visit https://go.cms.gov/2RE2Spj.

The HHS Office of Inspector General has updated its Work Plan, a road map for audits and evaluations. The new items include Medicare outpatient outlier payments for claims with credits for replaced medical devices; a follow-up review on inpatient claims subject to the post-acute care transfer payment policy; and duplicate payments for home health services covered under Medicare and Medicaid.
