News Briefs: October 11, 2021

Correction: In the Oct. 4 print edition of RMC, the story on expedited appeals refers to a town hall sponsored by the American College of Emergency Physicians, but it was actually sponsored by the American College of Physician Advisors.

CMS said Oct. 7 it has modified a COVID-19 waiver for “Medicare-Dependent Hospitals (MDHs) to include hospitals that became newly classified during the Public Health Emergency (PHE) without application of this waiver.”[1] CMS waived the eligibility requirements for the rest of the PHE: having 100 or fewer beds and at least 60% of inpatient days or discharges attributable to Part A.
