Millennium Physicians Association PLLC, which owns two sleep centers in the Houston area, has paid $1,248,964 to settle false claims allegations over sleep studies, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas said March 11.[1] The government started investigating Millennium Physicians Association, which operates Millennium Physicians Respiratory & Sleep Disorder Specialists, after a whistleblower filed a False Claims Act (FCA) lawsuit. The whistleblower, who was employed by Millennium, alleged the company did sleep studies without the presence of properly credentialed technicians. “The investigation revealed that from Jan. 8, 2015, through March 13, 2019, Millennium improperly billed and received payment for sleep tests when they did not have the required personnel present,” the U.S. attorney’s office alleged. Millennium didn’t admit liability in the settlement.
