CMS’s supplemental medical review contractor added a new audit July 7. It will conduct a post-payment review of a sample of Part B claims for Medicare Vitamin D laboratory test services billed in 2019.[1]

St. Jude Medical Inc. has agreed to pay $27 million to settle false claims allegations that between November 2014 and October 2016 it “sold defective heart devices to health care facilities that, in turn, implanted the devices into patients,” the Department of Justice said July 8.[2] Abbott Laboratories acquired St. Jude in January 2017.
