◆ In a Feb. 22 email, CMS said it is retiring the questions.cms.gov website. The content and functionality available on the website “will be migrated to our main Agency website, www.CMS.gov,” CMS said.

◆ Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen was sentenced to 17 years in prison on Feb. 22 almost 11 months after he was found guilty by a jury of 67 counts of health care fraud and other charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida said. Melgen, who specialized in the treatment of retinal disorders, falsely diagnosed Medicare patients with macular degeneration, among other things, and performed and billed for medically unnecessary tests and procedures, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
