Legal cannabis industry suffering from supply chain issues

Reports from California and Canada show that the amount of tax revenue from legal cannabis sales has fallen far short of previous estimates. The industry is plagued by breaks and gaps in the supply chain due to a patchwork of regulations governing the legality of growing, harvesting, purchasing and consuming cannabis. In the U.S., cannabis is illegal under federal law, legal under several states’ laws but also illegal in certain municipalities within those states.
