It’s been said that one bad apple spoils the bunch. In compliance, we typically use the “bad apple” defense to abdicate the company from responsibility. We describe the bad actor as the one who went rogue. But what happens to us in compliance when someone goes rogue? Occasionally we overreact, setting off a chain of unintended events and negative responses. What’s the risk of doing so, and how do we avoid it?
