Defense contractor sentenced to prison for violating Arms Export Control Act

U.S. District Judge Noel L. Hillman sentenced Roger Sobrado of Marlton, New Jersey, for income tax evasion, defrauding the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and violating the Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. § 2751 ). According to court filings, Sobrado obtained contracts from the DoD and passed them out to family members, who in turn supplied the DoD with sub-par products and parts. Sobrado then failed to report a substantial amount of income to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and downloaded and distributed sensitive plans and drawings of defense-related parts.
