ACLU lawsuit invokes Illinois facial protection law

After a report in The New York Times[1] detailed how Clearview AI, an artificial intelligence start-up, scraped photos from the internet to create faceprints that could be used with powerful facial recognition technology, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit[2] in Illinois seeking a court order to forbid scraping photos without explicit consent.
